From researching modern posters for Zombie themed film and television posters we have found some recurring features:
1) No facial close-ups of main
characters are shown, only silhouettes/extreme long shot of a main/important character - this implies that it could be anyone stuck in this horrific situation

2) High contrast cloudy skies - Pathetic fallacy, indicates the unrest and turmoil the characters are going through
3) Darkened edges - makes the poster appear more gory and tattered
4) The colour red - Red is instantly symbolic of blood which is heavily associated with zombies and the destruction of them
5) Backdrop of either a city or deserted rural locations - Gives an instant time placement for the audience,
you know instinctivly that you
will be following the survivors of that apocalypse
6) Often the typography looks weathered or like a stamp/stencil -
this makes the title appear to be more of an offical document, than a horror film
