Before creating our website for X Y DEAD we looked to other movie websites for inspiration. As our film has an action element we looked at the website for the Action/Adventure/Western film Django Unchained.
The main focus of the main page of the website is the three supposed main characters seen at the centre. The image of these three characters is very striking and made even more so by the use of the white background, this means the eye is drawn immediately to the centre. Having the characters in black and white follows the conventions of the western genre, makes both them and the blood splatter stand out and highlights the themes of racism and slavery present in the film.
In our website we have used a black background, not only so the eye is drawn to the images from the trailer we have at the centre, but also so the red of the title X Y DEAD will stand out immediately much like the red of the Django Unchained title and the blood splatter seen behind the character of Django.
At the bottom of the page there were also links to social media sits where you can share/comment onthe website and film. We have also used this in our website to link to our Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Blogger.
The tag line for the film 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Vengence' is placed in the middle top of the screen so it can be easily seen. Same with the link to the trailer which is at the top left of the 6 links.
